About the Classes

Kids Classes

Firstly….What to expect from your 2 and 3 year old.

Some Fairies take a little while to warm up to their wonderful new dancing classes, especially if they are shy, it takes a few moments to step out from hiding underneath your skirt!
They usually will come out of hiding quite quickly, but sometimes it takes a couple of classes for them to participate fully. (This is why we have the 2-week class Try-Out) There is a lot to look at and take in and of course we don’t force them to do anything, we will encourage them to join in with all the fun bit by bit… and usually they do once they understand what is going on.

The first couple of classes you will probably dance with your Fairy and week-by-week as they gain confidence you can encourage them to dance by themselves.
They are so little and we love Mums helping their Fairy settle in and feel happy and comfortable.
We gradually inch Mums over to the chairs as they gain more confidence, it is amazing to watch them learning independence, listening and following instruction, waiting their turn and learning to dance.

Like all children they love a routine and we follow a gorgeous Fairy program that develops with them as they grow, dance instruction is taught with gorgeous props and fun and exciting exercises to make the learning process a joy.
If your child joins mid-term as we have found they join in with the rest the class and follow along with the others that know what to do and our gracious teachers nurture and encourage and allow them to find their confidence within the class.

Ages 4 and up
Preschoolers and older are able to follow more instruction and the class contains more dance techniques along with a little Fairy Dancing encouraging them to express themselves and gain confidence.
As with our little Fairies, if your child joins mid-term we encourage and allow them to find their confidence at their own pace. There is so much to see and take in, but once they understand what it is all about they blossom like a beautiful flower!
We find some children will watch and take it all in, then practice at home to get it right before they participate… This can be a little frustrating for Mums at times as “She does it all at home!”, but take a breath and you will see her dancing in no time!
Children are different and we nurture them to bring out their individuality.

Combined classes

(All ages)
We offer combined classes so that the kids get a feel for more than one dance style.
The class will spend approx 20 minutes on one dance style, have a drink, change their shoes (if need be) and then 20 minutes on another style.

What is Fairy Ballet?

(Ages 2-4yrs)
A magical introduction to dance and music for little Fairies, the class is all about being a Fairy, imagination and magical dancing in front of the mirror in a Fairy dress!
Your little fairies can wear their favourite fairy dress, a ballet outfit or something outrageously frou frou,  a perfect pink setting for your little Glamour Puss to flounce around in!
We start with our ritual of a star sticker for their right foot and some magical fairy shimmer to help them dance like a fairy ballerina and then move onto lovely little floor exercises set to certain music which they get to know and remember what to do.
We then learn basic positions in our circle or at the Ballet Barre and do some stretching, moving onto little games and activities to music with props and treasures, which teaches so many things as well as dancing! They learn to listen and follow instruction, wait for their turn, share and help their gracious teacher, which all improves their confidence, coordination and concentration level, instilling a love of dance, movement and music and encourages a positive response to dance from an early age.

What is Fairy Tap?

(Ages 2-4yrs)
A gorgeous Tap Dancing class where they can dress up in their Fairy costumes and clunk around in glittery tap shoes!
The class will follow similar exercises to our Fairy Ballet classes as well as learning tap dancing techniques, to fun up-tempo music
The classes are age related, so your Fairies with less attention span will have activities within the class to keep them focused and have fun whilst they are learning.

What is Fairy Jazz?

(Ages 2-4yrs)
A fun and up-tempo class for Fairies who need a little more Vah-Voom!
The Jazz dancing is age related, so not at all sexy – they are kids!
We always start with our ritual of a star sticker for their right foot and some magical fairy shimmer, we usually have some fun exercises in the circle and then move onto some corner to corner or dancing across the room. Loads of fun and exciting things to boost their confidence, let off some steam as well as gaining flexibility and co-ordination.
It is a great introduction to Jazz dancing. The class is fun and energetic and is not too difficult, with changing activities to keep them focused and moving.

What is Giggle Ballet?

(Ages 4yrs and over)
A not-too-strict ballet class where the kids will learn ballet positions and terminology, our 4 and 5 year olds still follow a lot of the rituals they have in the Fairy classes but as they grow older we phase out some of the Fairy.
We will start in our circle, always with a star on their right foot – or until they are big enough to say they know their right and left! and some magical glitter, we will do some lovely ballet positions in our circle, some stretches and exercises. There will be some practise at the Barre, and then move onto lovely dancing across the room.
Classes promote good posture and confidence and the love of dancing in a fun and nurturing environment.

What is Glittery Tap?

(Ages 4yrs and over)
The Kids will learn tap dancing techniques, to pop and eclectic music in a fun environment.
The class has activities within the class to keep them focused and have fun whilst they are learning,
We always have our little rituals, which they love, s o we start in a circle with a star on their right foot and of course the magical fairy glitter! We will do some exercises in a circle and then move to tap steps at the barre and across the room.
The older kids will be challenged a little more but still have fun. As their skills improve, so does the intensity of the class.

What is Funky Jazz?

(Ages 4yrs and over)
Funky Jazz is a fabulous and fun class to learn funky moves to fab music. We steer clear of of all those sexy moves and teach them funky routines without any writhing!
The classes will have activities within the class to keep them focused and have fun whilst learning. Each age group and level will be challenged more as they gain confidence and skill but still have fun.
