January & February Taploid
Merhaba! Hello in Turkish!
Welcome to the Glittery Tapping Wonderland and the year 2010!
You are now reading our Taploid which is our monthly newsletter, it is available at the studio in a book, emailed to you (hopefully you get it, if you don’t please let us know!) as well as being pasted on our website!
It is lovely to see all the lovely new faces and, of course our seasoned fairies as well! It seems everything is running according to plan, a little mayhem, a lot of dancing and scores of happy faces!
The first couple of classes are always a little kooky for the first week or two of term, but things will be settling down now that we are getting to know the run of the place. For some, it is their first experience at a dance class and we want to make them feel safe and happy until they understand what the …. is going on!

Our Concert
December each year we have a fabulous Explosion of dancing!
Last year we had a wonderful day and all went swimmingly!
The theme was “Hilarious and Incredible Renditions” so each song was revamped in some way.
The theme for 2010’s Explosion is “Why did you do that!?”
I am sure our gracious teachers will have a grand ol’ time working out what to do this year!!
Our concerts and rehearsals are designed to be as painless and trouble free as possible.
Our Concert continued.
We have an evening adults show and a daytime kids show at Wesley College, on St Kilda rd usually the weekend of the 11th & 12th of December. (Theatre booking sometimes changes!)
We may even split the kids show this year, as we don’t want the show to run for 4 hours or anything hideous!
The 2 to 3 year old classes don’t participate in the Explosion at the theatre. We invite the parents and grandparents to watch the last class of Term 4 and they can be exhilarated by their fairies wearing their bestest fairy dress showing off their wonderful dancing skills! Depending on the class… they may have a little dance to perform – or not!
COSTUMES – We have an attic full of fabulous costumes, tutus and accessories that we rent for the concert, hire fee cost is between $20 and $30. (No sewing!!)
REHEARSAL – Our rehearsal is usually on a Saturday or Sunday in November, each class is allotted 10 minutes on the stage, where they run through their dance routine in costume on the stage maybe 3 or 4 times.
We don’t run a “Full Dress Rehearsal” where the show is run from start to finish as it too much for everyone. This always makes a good show as there are always spontaneous and hilarious moments and it’s always a little crazy, but we like it that way!
DVD – a professional company, who edits it and has them ready for you usually before Christmas, films the concert. DVD’s are usually around $30, which you will need to pre-order and pay for.
(We don’t make a commission from the DVD’s like most schools.)
PHOTOS – We allow photos to be taken during the concert and ask parents to come to the front of the stage and take a photo of their child after they have finished their dance.
We will keep you updated on all the Explosion information as the year passes on through the Taploid.
Discount Vouchers
In the program of the 2009 concert we had some tear-out discount vouchers for classes for new students, siblings and parents……did anyone find them!! Its funny because I think only one discount voucher has come in!

Photos of Concert
Did anyone take photos of the concert?
If you have some lovely shots, please email them to Miss Lou Lou, I would love to see them! missloulou@glitterytappingwonderland.com
Please let me know if you are happy for us to pop them on the website. (Cool if its not!)
Photos in Class
We are happy if you photograph your darlings in class, as these are such gorgeous moments to capture and look back on in years to come.
Please check that no one else is freaking out about it though!
3 years and over
For our St kilda studio, as the term moves along and your children are comfortable in their dance classes, we ask that our lovely mums and dads move upstairs to the Loft. You can watch from above and your fairies know that you are up there.
This helps with their concentration and makes the class run much more smoothly.
2 to 3 year old classes, we are happy for parents to stay in the studio…but please don’t chat as it gets terribly noisy. Thanks.

Otherwise our starving teachers will be scrounging around in the front garden for nuts and berries.

We have some fabulous adults classes running at the studio, come on in!
Its great exercise and great fun!

Dr Lottie-
Dr. Lottie is our in-house mental health advisor, who writes a column for our Taploid each month.
Students are encouraged to write in to ask her advice.
Her answers are usually a little harsh and to the point, but deep down there is a nice person inside there somewhere!
Please feel free to Email Miss Lou Lou with your health questions and they will be promptly passed onto Dr. Lottie.
Each year she insists on performing with her husband “The Professor” at our Explosion, they are avid dancers and it’s hard to say no to her.
Always something to look forward too!
HEALTH CORNER
Questions to the highly qualified Dr Lottie Prospect.
Dear Dr. Lottie,
Lately I have been feeling a little unfit and decided to take up a long lost hobby that I did when I was a young filly over twenty five years ago, horse riding.
I booked myself into have a riding lesson at the local equestrian centre where I was to be assessed as to what my level would be and be placed in a riding group.
I gave it a good go, everything started to come back to me, I cantered around the arena, popped over a jump or two, and I felt wonderful!
Until I dismounted, as my feet touched the ground, my legs gave way leaving me trembling in the middle of the riding arena!
Embarrassed, I struggled onto my jellified legs and wobbled my way back to the stables.
I haven’t been able to move my legs for three days! I fear I am over the hill and out to pasture. Am I starting too late in life?
Signed Ashamed and Maimed
Dear Ashamed and Maimed,
This is a completely normal reaction from your body when coming back to an exercise that you haven’t participated in, in over quarter of a century.
You are not getting any younger you know. Your body is out of shape. What on earth were you thinking?
I am positive that it is far too late in life to get back into the saddle. Have you ever thought of taking up knitting?
Thank you for your long in the tooth letter.
Dr Lottie.
Chow for now, love from Miss Lou Lou xxx
